Abstract

The service conditions are analyzed in the articles for Waelz kilns of Chelyabinsk electrolysis zinc Plant and of Ust-Kamenogorsk lead-zinc Works, and the main reasons for refractory lining erosion were established. The most stable for the Waelz kiln's service condition are periclase-chromite refractories on base of fused periclase (PCFP) and chrome-periclase heat-resistant (CPHR) refractories. To increase the lining resistance the Waelz kiln's brickworks on base of both chrome-periclase heat-resistant refractories and devised high-temperature adhesives were developed, tested and introduced, the refractories having been impregnated with the coal-tar pitch. The trial batch of the refractory products was produced and tested in the Waelz kiln brickwork. The brickwork mortar was developed on base of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. The threedimensional geometric shape, the optimum size and design of ceramic wares as well as of the brickworks on their base were investigated. The brickworks were used in the Waelz kilns at a number of enterprises. Ill. 4. Ref. 3. Tab. 1.
