Abstract

The hardening problem for the graphitized carbon linings used in the aluminum electrolyzers is discussed in the article for high-temperature condition of alumina-cryolite melts. It was established that lithium influences actively the changing of the graphite's structure layer via their in-tergrowth as a result of intercalation. The improvement of aluminum electrolyzers' graphitized carbon linings' properties is proved by the series of experimental works carried out on several carbon materials. Ill. 3. Ref. 6. Tab. 1.
