HIGH-EFFICIENCY CARBON-CONTAINING LININGS FOR THE HIGH-TEMPERATURE VESSELS IN NON-FERROUS INDUSTRY

Abstract
The article is concerned with the influence of carbon-bearing materials on the mechanical properties of refractories, with the development of the methods for magnesia refractories impregnating with carbon-bearing compositions, with the investigation of oxidation protection technology for carbon-containing refractories, with the defining of lining’s zones which are effective for the carbon materials application. The linings with carbon-bearing materials were tried and introduced in thermal vessels of non-ferrous industry. According to the results of the investigations the technology for the periclase-carbon refractories was developed, the combined lining was designed and the method of brick’s impregnating with coke pitch was presented. Both carbon-bearing refractories and coatings passed the industrial tests at several enterprises and were introduced in the reverberatory ore-thermal furnaces, in Waeltz kilns and in the horizontal converters. The carbon refractories and coatings application in the thermal vessels’ linings of non-ferrous industry increases the furnaces campaigns by the value from 30 to 200 %. Ill. 4. Ref. 4. Tab. 1.
