Abstract

Glass-ceramic composites based on blast furnace slag have unique mechanical properties and can be used as wear-resistant lining of mining and chemical equipment, electrical insulators, technical and decorative lining materials and in a number of other areas. In this work, samples of synthetic stone casting based on blast furnace slag with various additives, including sand, glass cutting and chemical reagents, increasing the degree of crystallinity of the melting products, were made. Studies of the obtained products have shown that the highest mechanical properties are characterized by the material obtained on the basis of a charge corresponding to natural granites. The specified composition contained blast furnace slag ― 63 %, quarry sand ― 22 %, iron oxide ― 9 % and aluminum oxide ― 9 %. The increased density and good mechanical properties of the material under study are determined by the formation of pyroxene crystal structures during the molding of synthetic stone casting.
