Physics of optimal regimes of gravitational separation

Abstract

Physics of the gravitational separation process determines hydrodynamic interaction of solid particles and moving medium. The existing theories of this process are mainly based on velocity-related hypothesis. However, it is rather sketchy and does not explain many experimentally revealed phenomena and regularities. A structural model of the process, which takes into account the character of changes in two-phase flow velocity over the apparatus cross-section, expands the scope of the velocity-based hypothesis. It provides a complete description of all experimentally found phenomena and regularities from the standpoint of a unified approach. Ill. 9. Ref. 5.
