Abstract
The results of the mineral and petrography studies for the phase formation and structure changing taking place in periclase-carbonaceous refractories after their experimental interaction with the slag's and slag-nickel molten masses are given in the article. For comparison the chemical corrosion rate and mechanism were regarded for the chrome-periclase refractory when it is subjected to metal-slag and slag molten masses. It was shown that periclase-carbonaceous refractory interacts with both kinds of molten masses much weaker than the chrome-periclase does. The carbon presence prevents both the components reciprocal diffusion and periclase-carbonaceous refractory's chemical corrosion, thus elevating essentially their stability compared to this of chrome-periclase refractory.
