Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study on the production of alumina ceramics based on domestic brands of alumina: GN, GEF, GK-1, GRT. The different initial state of alumina of different brands, in terms of frequency and dispersion, is reflected in the shape and size of the granules of press powders and in the physical and mechanical characteristics of alumina ceramics. Using alumina of domestic producers did not allow obtaining high-quality alumina ceramics. The maximum attainable value of the apparent density of fired ceramics did not exceed 3,80‒3,84 g/см3. Foreign alumina brands Almatis CT 3000 SG and Nabalox 713-10 NM (Germany) are characterized by high purity, dispersion and α-Al2Ocontent of more than 99,0 wt. %, which ensures the production of alumina ceramics with a high apparent density of  3,94‒3,96  g/см3 and can be used for the production of alumina ceramics with a high level of physical and technical properties.
