Non-traditional aluminous binders: composition — properties correlations

Abstract

The paper approaches the synthesis mechanisms, the hydration processes of several super-refractory calcia baria aluminous cements and their behavior in concretes. The studies concern the complex hardening processes of C2BA4, CA2‒C2BA4 binding systems, and CA2‒C2BA4‒ssCA-BA binding system, thermic treated at different temperatures, time of 2 hours. For the selected compositions, the compounds reactivity and the nature of obtained hydrates were assessed. Information regarding the synthesis and the degree of mineralogical compounds hydration were obtained by X-ray diffraction. Concretes were prepared with 15 % cement, mass percent, and 85 % tabular alumina-aggregate. On these concretes, from carried out investigations, it was found that the studied cements develop binding properties when the adequate mineral compositions are obtained.
